The Ministry of Education in Fiji has announced that students wanting to join teacher training programs will now need to attend an interview before being accepted. This new rule applies to all four divisions in the country.

This change is being done with the help of the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority, Higher Education Commission Fiji, and Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro says this is a great chance for students who finished Year 13 and want to become teachers.

The Minister explained that with the need for more qualified teachers, it’s important to find the right people for these jobs. By adding interviews, they hope to choose passionate students who will work hard to make a difference in schools and students’ lives.

This step is part of the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, which focuses on improving teacher training and making sure graduates have the skills needed for classrooms. Minister Radrodro also said that teachers are the heart of education, and this move is to ensure Fiji’s education system remains strong and successful.

Year 13 students are encouraged to take this opportunity to start a rewarding career in teaching. Students will receive interview details through email and phone calls.

The Ministry is also making sure the recruitment process is strict by asking for medical and police reports for all new teachers. These changes aim to build a better future for Fiji’s education system.

For more information, students can visit the Ministry of Education’s website or contact their schools.
